How to Buy Suitable Toys for Each Age Group?
Toys are critical for children’s physical, sensory, cerebral, and affective development because they help them discover the world, become aware of their body and its limitations, learn how to create and employ logical and practical thinking, and develop their imagination via play.
With this level of importance, it’s obvious that youngsters require playing on a daily basis and in huge quantities. And, as we all know, you adore seeing them happy! However, do they play with toys that are appropriate for their age?
Although children are fairly adaptable when it comes to choosing what to play with, there are certain sorts of games and toys that are better suited to your child’s developmental stage, skills, and preferences. Otherwise, they may grow frustrated or bored soon.
To assist you, here are some guidelines and suggestions for selecting the most appropriate toys for each age group, while remembering to avoid making comparisons to other children. Given that each child develops at his or her own speed and has unique tastes, here we go!
0-6 Months
Everything is novel to your baby: the surroundings, their body, your body, sounds, smells, and sensations, to name a few. As a result, they require toys that assist them in discovering their bodies and discriminating between colours, shapes, and textures. Bear in mind that babies will put everything in their mouths, therefore toys must be made of non-toxic materials and free of small bits or parts that might shatter to eliminate any risk of choking.
Crib mobiles, teethers, rattles, and multi-activity stuffed animals are all excellent ideas for this stage.
6-12 Months
At this age, object and speech identification and exploration, as well as awareness of movement, begin. They begin to sit up on their own and become curious about everything. It’s time for crawling toys like balls, activity mats, teething toys, and toys that make noise when thrown on the floor. To stimulate their senses, this age group should be given a sensory teething toy or ball.
12-24 Months
Let’s make the most of that first year! Your baby will already be on their feet, on the verge of walking, or will be sprinting around the world (and we will be running after them!).
He/she will want to rush around with this wonderful discovery, so we must encourage activities that require movement while also keeping in mind that he/she is still somewhat insecure.
Crawling toys will assist them in taking their first steps, and ride-on or walking bikes (as long as they are quite sturdy) will enable them to sit up and create speed with their feet, allowing them to explore their surroundings and develop leg strength.
Additionally, stacking and nestable toys will keep kids occupied and will aid in their development of hand-eye coordination.
Assist them in exploring the environment by providing a bike walker or encouraging them to take their first steps with drag toys.
2-5 Years Old
By this age, curiosity has taken control of their lives: noises, names, words, colours, textures, and places can all become adventures. They are constantly striving to improve themselves, and their intellectual and physical skills increase significantly throughout this stage, which means they will like moving and manipulating objects. Scooters, puzzles, paintings, and dolls are all perfect at this time of year.
Coordination, balance, and motor skills are improved with the Micro scooters; colours and animals are recognized with the A Comer! You can even assist them in developing their cognitive abilities by providing them with a pair puzzle or assist them in discovering dinosaurs by providing them with a fun Stegosaurus Puzzle.
5-8 Years Old
Writing is followed by reading, subtraction, and addition. The world becomes more intricate, and they revel in it! Skateboards, manual games, quizzes, and experiments are all included in this stage’s activities.
They will become interested in increasingly complicated activities, sports, strategy games, audio-visuals, and experiments after they reach the age of eight. They will develop their own identity from this point forward.
Now, let’s look at some interesting toys that you can gift your child on this Christmas.
1. Hasbro Don’t Step in It Game — Unicorn Edition
Price: $18.90
Avoid the pile of number two at all costs (while blindfolded!), and you might end up becoming number one. The game mat should be rolled out and the spinner used to calculate the number of piles of magical unicorn poo to be deposited on the mat. You may laugh, converse, leap, walk, or run as you proceed — but whatever you do, avoid stepping in it.
P.S. Because the availability of this popular holiday gift varies, try your best to catch it while you can!
2. Artie 3000 The Coding Robot
